Profiles: Plan Your Lighting Detail
This planning guide does not present a verified TaoGroup.Ltd profile range or confirm product availability.
Bring the line of light, the surrounding space and the finish you want into one clear project brief. Start with the intended appearance, then record the product, dimensions and details that need agreement.
Where will the light sit?
Describe where the line of light should sit, the surfaces around it and how visible the surrounding hardware should be. Include the intended viewing direction and any transitions between straight sections, corners or curves.
What space is available?
Note the available dimensions and their units, where that information came from, and any restrictions created by adjacent materials or access requirements. Distinguish a recorded site condition from a proposed design dimension. An existing marked-up detail can help communicate these conditions.
Which lighting product will you use?
Include the exact product reference when one has been selected. A similar shape or nominal size does not establish that a profile and lighting product are compatible.
Which details need agreement?
Record the finish, visible joints, end treatment and proposed cable-entry location. Confirm compatibility and the final assembly for the exact products and configuration being considered.
Prepare your project brief
Use the record below to bring your notes together. Keep design preferences separate from confirmed details, and list the questions you still need answered.
- Product identity
- Record the exact lighting product reference, or write “not selected” if that choice remains open.
- Location and layout
- Identify the proposed location, viewing direction and run layout. Refer to the relevant sketch or detail when one is already available.
- Dimensions and reference
- Retain each available dimension with its unit and source. Mark proposed or unconfirmed dimensions clearly.
- Appearance and access
- Record the desired finish, visible joints and end treatment, proposed cable-entry location and known access constraints. Label preferences as preferences.
- Documents and confirmations
- Identify any document or written confirmation already held and the particular detail it addresses.
- Questions still open
- List the profile identity, product fit or assembly details that still need a documented answer. An unanswered point remains unresolved.
